100 Organic Farmers in Unyama Receive Agricultural Inputs

100 registered organic cereal farmers in Unyama Sub-County, Gulu district have received agricultural inputs from the Organisation of Organic Cereals Agriculture.  

The 100 farmers are members of different farmers groups in Unyama Sub-County.

Kidega Justine, the Unyama Sub-County LC III Chairperson says APPCO Uganda is working with these farmers to build their capacity in organic farming, environmental justice, pests and disease control organically, field operations, post harvest handling, marketing and financial discipline. 

He adds that some of the farm inputs given to individual farmers include; 6×6 Tarpulin, hybrid soya bean seeds, hybrid maize seeds and 50 tree seedlings.

Kidega says the farmers have been promised a ready market for their products once its ready for sale.  

Kidega says the garden of each farmer will be considered for a soil sampling test in order to assess fertility levels.
