16-year-old student dies after Violent Attack at Bobi wine’s rally in Gulu

A 16-year-old student has succumbed to injuries he sustained during the gang attacks on National Unity Platform Presidential Candidate on Saturday.

Leon Joshua Otim, a student of Excel High School in Mukono who had just returned home for holidays, is among people who went to Awere grounds to listen to Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine’s campaign speech that fateful day.

His mother Margaret Abalo says she had advised her son against attending the rally due to the unstable situation, but he assured her he would be safe.

Otim who is a son of the late Col Justin Anywar, was reportedly in coma for three days before he died at 2:00pm today from St Mary’s Hospital Lacor.

His body is lying at the 4th division military hospital in Gulu as the family makes burial arrangements.

According to reports, the senior three student died of a brain haemorrhage after incurring a blow on the head with a blunt object.

Police in an earlier statement said they are investigating the incident in which several traders also lost their goods to criminal gangs on Lagara road.
