At least 18 people have been trampled to death by elephants in Nwoya district in the last four years, according to a report.
The most recent deaths were reported this week where two people were trampled attacked by elephants that had invaded crop gardens.
The first case happened in Ceke village, Lii Sub County where Moses Obua, 37, a farmer who hails from Dokolo district died after being trampled by an elephant that turned wild while being driven away from a garden.
The second incident happened on Thursday where one David Ouma, a 31-year-old resident of Gony cogo village, also in Lii Sub County.
Geoffrey Okello, the Nwoya County Member of Parliament says that both deaths could have been avoided if the electric fence was prioritized by government.
Human wild life conflict remains a big challenge for areas neighboring Murchison Falls Conservation Area as wild animals perpetually invade communities to destroy crop gardens and in the process also injure and kill people.
