
Gulu City Council is set to repair 31 solar lights in order to improve lighting on the streets.
The repair works valued at 78 million shillings is expected to be funded under the Uganda Road Fund, according to Christo Omara Balmoi, the Gulu City Engineer.
Omara says the solar lights to be repaired stretch from Lamogi Ber bus terminal to the regional police headquarters.
He adds that the repairs are expected to begin in the 4th quarter of this financial year (April to June) which is a continuation of work done last year.
A total of 162 street lights were repaired last year by the City Council including those stretching from Layibi round about to Lamogi Bus terminal.
Gulu City has a total of 3,000 solar street lights but about 700 have either malfunctioned or been vandalized.
