Gulu City to Clear Campaign Posters in Citywide Clean-Up Drive

Gulu City Council is set to carry out a clean-up exercise of the city which has been littered with campaign posters of candidates at different political levels.

Campaign posters are currently on buildings, electric poles, trees and road barricades.

Some of the posters are removed by natural forces such as rain and wind leaving atrail of litter while others need to be manually removed.

Innocent Ahimbisibwe says that they will work with property owners to clean up the remaining posters from the city when the elections end.

The 2026 general elections which started with campaigns in November are set to end on February 4 th with the election of sub county leaders.

The city council currently doesn’t earn any local revenue for such campaign posters, according to Ahimbisibwe
