
Richard Okwera Ojara has been re-elected as the Mayor of Kitgum Municipality for another term in office.
He promises to prioritize the upgrade of Pandwong Health Center III to the level of Health Center IV.
Ojara, who ran as an independent candidate, secured victory, garnering 4,625 votes to defeat seven other candidates.
His closest rival, Santo Morris Oyo of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), received 3,309 votes.
While others in the race included Raymond Ocan of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), who got 788 votes, Walter Livingston Toroma (Independent) with 262 votes, Merino Ongee Lol received 92 votes, Komakech John Ogwok of People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), with 60 votes, and Peter Opika Opoka of the Democratic Party (DP) with 40 votes.
Ojara says that upgrading Pandwong Health Centre III will be his top priority.
He cites the construction of a doctor’s house and surgical ward as key projects that need to be completed.
He also expresses hope that a Land Cruiser ambulance will be acquired and more staff recruited to meet the requirements for the upgrade.
