Police Confirms Death of Two Suspects from Cemetery Road Attacks

Police in Gulu City have confirmed the death of two key suspects who were arrested following a scuffle and attacks on businesses along Cemetery Road.

David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa West Police spokesperson identifies the deceased as Okello Denish and Ojok Ojara Ben.

According to Mudong, the two were among suspects arrested during a police operation mounted after violent incidents targeting businesses along Cemetery Road in Gulu City.

Mudong says the suspects died on Friday while in custody at Gulu Central Police Station.

He explains that a postmortem examination indicates that the two died as a result of blood clots stemming from self-inflicted injuries allegedly sustained while in detention.

Police say investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

The bodies have since been handed over to their respective families for burial with one body still at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital.

Authorities have assured the public of continued security operations to restore calm and protect businesses in Gulu City following the recent attacks along Cemetery Road.
