Gulu Regional Referral hospital to beef up security

Authorities at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital are set to beef up security following the recent theft of a vehicle from the health facility.

The vehicle registration number UBE 639F, a land cruiser donated to the hospital by USAID’s Uganda Health Activity project was allegedly stolen on February 12th by Paul Apie.

Apie has since been arrested and efforts are underway to recover the vehicle which is worth 300 million shillings.

Walter Uriekwun, the Principal Administrator at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital says they are considering installing more CCTV cameras.

Apie was tracked using CCTV footage from the hospital.

Uriekwun says that they are also going to deploy the army and police at core areas of their operations to protect assets of the hospital.

The Principal Administrator says that they will also improve on the GPS in their 18 fleet of vehicles.
