Plans to add courses at Oding youth skilling center underway

Plans are underway to increase the number of vocational courses offered at Oding presidential skilling center in Unyama Sub county, Gulu district.

The center is set to start offering plumbing, electrical engineering, knitting and weaving, auto mobile and mechanics and driving, according Samuel Oyet Agwani, the Assistant Manager of the Oding Youth Skilling Centre.

The center currently offers six months courses in bricklaying and concrete practice, hairdressing, tailoring and garment cutting, welding and metal fabrication, carpentry, joinery, and bakery.

Oding is one of 21 zonal skilling centers established across the country by government through state house to skill 12,600 youngsters per year.

This is aimed at addressing the high unemployment rate in the country especially among young people.
