
Police in Wakiso have arrested the head teacher and a matron at a school in Gombe, Wakiso district, as they investigate the circumstances under which a Primary Five pupil committed suicide in the dormitory.
Reports at Wakiso Police station have indicated that the deceased, a 14-year-old pupil at Kololo Junior School in Kayunga Cell, Gombe ward, Wakiso district, was found hanging in one of the school dormitories at 8:00pm.
Rachel Kawala, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson identifies the deceased as Kiseka John Terry, a 14-year-old Primary Five pupil.
She says police findings indicate that as pupils returned to the dormitory from evening prep, they found Terry hanging inside.
They immediately informed the matron, who notified the school director, but police were informed later.
Police scene-of-crime officers who visited the scene found the body suspended with a red scarf tied to a roofing pole inside one of the school dormitories.
Kawala says police have arrested the school director and matron to assist with investigations. The body was taken to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
