Agago District has received 3,704 bales of long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito nets (LLINs) to support the fight against malaria and protect over 316,000 residents across 117 parishes.
The nets were delivered yesterday to the district headquarters by Klan Logistics on behalf of National Medical Stores, with support from the Government of Uganda and the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative led by USAID.
Under the distribution plan, one net will be allocated for every two people in a household.
During the flag-off, Susan Akot Moro, the Agago Deputy Resident District Commissioner, thanked the government and partners for the timely support.
She urges local leaders to sensitize communities on the proper use of the nets.
She adds that an additional 1,250 bales have been provided as buffer stock to cover any shortages identified after comparing district microplans with delivery schedules.
Eric Okoso, a team leader from National Medical Stores, says the consignment was transported using nine trucks and will be delivered directly to parishes.
