Dr. Patricia Okiria Ocan, the deputy Inspectorate of Government has urged civil servants in Acholi sub-region to declare their income, assets and liabilities.
Dr. Okiria made the remarks today while meeting with civil servants and Chief Administrative Officers from Acholi sub-region at the Gulu district CAO’s Boardroom.
She reveals that section five of the Leadership Code requires Public Officers to declare their wealth every five years in the month of April.
Dr. Okiria notes that declaration of income, assets and liabilities by Public Officers helps to promote transparency and accountability adding that this can also help to prevent and detect corruption, illicit enrichment and conflict of interest which in turn promotes trust in public service.
She appeals to the Chief Administrative Officers and other Heads of entities to encourage their staff to submit their income, assets and liabilities in order to avoid being fined or penalized.
James Okettayot, the deputy CAO of Gulu district praises the IGG for the sensitization adding that all Public Servants in Gulu will be required to submit their data on time.
Accordingly to the IGG, this exercise will be carried out in the month of April 2026.
