Lightening arrestors estimated to be worth about 4 million shillings have been stolen from Unyama Primary school in Gulu district.
The lightening arrestors, which were stolen early this week, had recently been installed on a newly constructed classroom block.
Justin Kidega, the LC III Chairman Unyama sub county, confirms the report saying theft of lightening arrestors is a matter that should be investigated.
He says other schools that have reported similar incidents in the recent past are Ogul, Coopil and Angaya primary school.
He says that in all the cases, the lightening arrestors were stolen within a few days after installation.
Unfortunately, due to limited finances, most of the affected schools have not been able to replace the lightening arrestors, leaving pupils at risk of being struck by lightning.
