
The community of otungpili in Loyobo A village Unyama subcounty yesterday received their first borehole after years of suffering.
Through an effort by the Gulu District Speaker Hon Ayoo Janeth Phoebe Obol aimed at providing clean safe drinking water for all in Aswa county.
Cosmas James Okidi, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Gulu District, while commissioning the borehole cautioned the residents to keep the water well and use it productively.
He told the cheerful congregation to institute a water source committee that will manage and maintain the borehole.
Lalango Joyce Olanya a resident of the area expresses her gratitude for the initiative to help the community by Ayoo Phoebe and her partners ‘show Mercy International’ a Christian NGO partnering with Ayoo Phoebe to drill boreholes.
Mrs. Phoebe together with her partners in development have drilled 46 boreholes in Gulu district.
She says the main plan beginning 2026 is to extend the project to other neighbouring districts in Acholi sub-region.
Ayoo is the current speaker of Gulu district, aspiring to claim Woman Member of Parliament for Gulu district under NRM ticket.
