Police Probe Mysterious Death of 70-Year-Old Man in Gulu City

The Police in Pece-Laroo division, Gulu City are investigating a case of a sudden death of 70 year Otto Williams Laroo which occurred on Easter Sunday from Layik Cell, Agonga ward, Laroo-Pece division in Gulu City.

Otto is a resident of Mulila village, Alero sub county Nwoya District.

David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa West Police Spokesperson says the case has been registered under D.E.F 03/2026.

The case was reported by Owiny Peter Mwa, resident of Layik cell, Agonga ward, Laroo-Pece Division Gulu City.

Allegations indicate that on Easter Sunday at around 3:00pm, Otto arrived at the home of his elder brother; Oketa Lapenga for a visit while drunk holding a bottle of waragi and two bottles of soda. 

The deceased continued to consuming alcohol and was served supper which he ate together with his elder brother at around 7:00pm.

Otto was however later on discovered dead in a chair at around 8:00pm.

Mudong says the District Police Commander and the deputy CID Officer plus other personnel responded to the scene.

He adds that food and drink samples were collected from the scene, statements were recorded and the body was taken to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital pending a postmortem.
