Gilbert Olanya, the Kilak South Member of Parliament in Amuru District has raised concern over the manner in which the new cattle compensation forms are being filled.
Olanya notes that the forms being filled in Gulu City by beneficiaries indicate that they have already received the five million shillings.
He adds that the signing of these forms by beneficiaries is improper because the funds have not yet been received adding that this is how the officials at the Office of the Prime Minister could swindle compensation money like they did in the past with the Peace, Recovery and Development Plan (PRDP) programs funds.
Olanya further says that he contacted the office of the Prime Minister last week from where he was told that the beneficiaries will receive their money before the 30th of this month.
Olanya has threatened to take government to court if the cattle compensation money is not disbursed to the beneficiaries by the 30th of this month.
He faults government technocrats like the Resident City Commissioners (RCCs), Town Clerks among others for failing to sensitize the public enough about the cattle compensation procedures.
Dr. Christopher Baryomunsi, the Minister for ICT and National guidance in February announced that Cabinet had approved cattle compensation for people in Acholi, Lango and Teso at five million shillings per house hold.
The beneficiaries will be identified by the PDM Committee groups in the Villages.
