A police officer has been injured in Koboko Municipality while dispersing rowdy students of Nyarilo SS and Daystar SS.
Constable Thembo Cosmas was injured on his left eye by a flying stone during the incident that occurred at 3:00pm yesterday at Alimakodra cell, North division.
Police says that students of Daystar SS attacked Nyarilo SS by throwing stones at the School on allegation that one of Daystar SS students was being held at Nyarilo SS over unclear reasons.
Students of Nyarilo SS in revenge also started throwing stones at students of Daystar SS.
Josephine Angucia, the Public Relations Officer West Nile Region says that a joint team of police and the army rushed to the scene and fired live bullets to quell the violence.
Angucia says that constable Thembo was treated at Koboko General hospital adding that a total of 24 students from the two Schools were arrested and later released to their respective head teachers.
The police publicist says that students of the two schools were sent back home for one week to allow the management of the two schools to meet and come up with harmonious resolutions on the matter.
