Anaka leaders issue strong warning to kiosk owners shifting to Anaka

Anaka town council in Nwoya district has issued a strong warning to the people of Gulu city shifting their kiosks to Anaka town council as a result of the trade order currently going on to stop with immediate effect.

Gulu city authority on 16th March 2026 commenced enforcement of the removal of illegal trading from the public spaces, following a directive from the permanent secretary of the ministry of local government, Ben Kumamanya, to local authorities nationwide to enforce licensing laws and remove illegal trading from public spaces.

Onyee John Paul, the town clerk for Anaka town council reveals that they have noted with concern that the owners of kiosks who are being evicted from Gulu city are shifting their kiosks from Gulu city to Anaka town council to do business.

Onyee says it is not in order for kiosks to flood Anaka and therefore such people should be cautioned and should look for where to take their kiosks.

According to Onyee, the trade order was meant for the whole country and Anaka is not exceptional and soon the eviction shall reach them too.
