
The traffic police of sheema district are investigating a fatal accident that has claimed six lives and left two critically injured.
Apollo Tayebwa, the Greater Bushenyi Regional Police spokesperson says the Saturday early morning accident occured along the Mbarara–Bushenyi Highway at Rushara, Kabwohe in SHEEMA Municipality.
Tayebwa has identified the deceased as 47 year old Dinavance Komugisha, 69 year old Jane Rose Kobusigye, 12 year old Precious Ampereza, 40 year old Editor Komugisha, 57 year old 57 year old Harriet Asiimwe, 57 and 27 year old Grace Narmara.
The injured are; 16 year old Bruno Bimanyamukama and 13 year old Vicky Amanya.
The two were rushed to ICOBI Hospital for medical attention.
The accident involved a motor vehicle registration number UA 702DL a Toyota Fielder, black in color, which was en route to Bushenyi from Mbarara.
Tayebwa says the deceased are believed to have been returning home after attending overnight prayers at St. Rose Catholic Church at Rukinga, Kabingo.
Tayebwa says preliminary investigations attribute the accident to speeding noting that the hunt for the driver has commenced.
The bodies of the deceased were conveyed to Kabwohe Health Centre III mortuary for postmortem examination.
