Police in Kole district are investigating the theft of soya oil worth 12 million shillings from DIG Oil Factory premises belonging to an Indian businessman.
According to a statement from Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Police Spokesperson, unknown people connived with the factory security guard identified as Eric Obongo to access the factory premises and made off with approximately 2,000 litres of soya crude oil valued at 12 million shillings.
Okema says the said security guard did not report the incident to any relevant authorities until midday on Saturday when 35 year old Mayur Patel, the owner of the factory discovered the loss.
He says three suspects including Obongo, the security guard, Ojuka Lamek the security supervisor at DIG Oil Company, and Awio Jaspher, a machine operator have since been arrested to assist with investigations.
Okema adds that efforts are ongoing to arrest other suspects believed to be business dealers in Lira City.
