CT Scan Services Return at Gulu Independent Hospital

Authorities at Gulu Independent hospital, a private hospital in Bardege-Layibi in Gulu city say they are reviving their CT Scan machines to serve the population in the region better.

The machine which broke down several months ago is expected to become operational by July, according to Juma Labongo, the Hospital Spokesperson.

Labongo says that they charge between 150,000 to 500,000 shillings depending on the test to be carried out.

The demand for CT scan services is currently high across the country due to increasing cases of road crashes, cancer and vascular diseases.

Due to regular break down of similar machines at hospitals in Gulu City, patients from the region are forced to travel to Kampala in order to access the service.

A Computed Tomography (CT) scan which is usually recommended by a doctor, is a painless, noninvasive, and fast imaging test that uses X-rays and computers to produce detailed, cross-sectional slices of bones, blood vessels, and soft tissues.
