Gulu City Council Authority is struggling to attract candidates for law enforcement officers.
The city council authority recently advertised for 16 law enforcement officers but only five people applied and were recruited, according to Innocent Ahimbisibwe, the Gulu City Town Clerk.
Ahimbisibwe says that the council decided to re-advertise the remaining positions until June 12, 2026 to attract more applicants. The academic qualification of the job is a diploma in law.
The city clerk explains that the city which already has three law enforcers, needs a total of 20 officers to effectively execute the job.
Once recruitment is complete, the enforcement officers are expected to ensure that the trade order recently carried out with the help of the police and the army, is being adhered to.
This comes as hundreds of traders have set up shop along pavements and walkways after their kiosks were demolished during the trade order carried out in March and April.
