FDC Boss tells voters: “Stop calling your MP every five minutes!”

Patrick Amuriat Oboi, the Forum for Democratic Change President has asked voters to stop pressuring elected leaders with constant phone calls because Members of Parliament need time for focusing on the national work they were elected to do.

Amuriat made the remarks on Saturday during a thanksgiving prayer for Denis Onekalit Amere, the Kitgum Municipality MP held at Peace Group Christ Catholic Parish.

Amuriat says voters often bother MPs over issues that should not be forwarded to them.

He notes that MPs are national leaders who also engage in state duties, which is why they sometimes fail to pick or return calls.

Christopher Komakech, the outgoing Parish Priest of Christ Catholic Parish, earlier in his sermon during the mass, urged leaders to ignore distractions from people who do not bring development ideas.

Amere, who contested on the FDC ticket, defeated Beatrice Atim Anywar, the State Minister for Water and Environment for the second time, after beating her in 2021.

Minister Anywar has since petitioned Amere’s 2026 victory at Kitgum High Court, citing vote rigging and voter intimidation.

The court is yet to fix a hearing date.
