
Police in Adjumani district have detained a 32-year old woman identified as Jackline Amadrio on allegations of stealing a one-week old baby.
Amadrio reportedly went to the home of Jackline Kojoa at around 11:00pm on Saturday at Rancy, Karooko Cell, Belaya Adjumani District and falsely claimed that Kojoa’s mother in law was experiencing a problem that required urgent attention.
Kojoa reportedly left behind her baby boy identified as Andugo Manase and rushed to her mother in-law only to discover that there was no emergency.
She returned home to find her infant had been taken by the suspect.
Collins Asea, the North West Nile Police Spokesperson confirms the report saying a search was conducted and the suspect who is a resident of Odrueyi Village, Adjumani Town Council was later apprehended near Adjumani General Hospital where she was attempting to disguise herself.
Asea says that the suspect was arrested and handed over to Adjumani Police for further investigation.
He says the child was rescued and returned to the mother safely adding that the child was referred to the hospital for medical examination.
