Nine numberless motorcycles have been recovered during an intelligence led operation carried out over the weekend in Arua City.
Josephine Angucia, the West Nile Region Region Police Spokesperson says the motorcycles were recovered on Saturday from Kirabu area in Arua City Central Division.
Angucia says that a similar operation carried out on Tuesday last week led to the recovery of 27 suspected stolen unregistered motorcycles in a Hotel parking yard from where one suspect was arrested.
Angucia says that the same suspect whose identity has been concealed to avoid jeopardizing investigations, led police to recover one motorcycle registration number UGC 425C from a parking yard in Kebir Cell, Kenya ward, Arua Central Division, along Onduparaka road on Friday.
She adds that police was forced to use tear gas after the public became violent and started throwing stones at police leading to the damage of a police vehicle windscreen.
This now brings to 36 the total number of numberless motorcycles recovered in Arua City, according to Angucia who says the operation is still ongoing.
