RDC vows to influence deregistration of brief case NGOs

The Resident District Commissioner for Amuru district, Geoffrey Osborne Ochieng has vowed to influence the deregistration of brief case Non-Governmental Organizations in his constituency.

While a Resident District Commissioner (RDC) cannot independently deregister or revoke an NGO’s operating permit, they hold immense influence in the process, direct Influence and Investigations Under the National NGO Policy, an RDC is expected to facilitate the activities of the National Bureau for NGOs (the NGO Bureau) within their district, acting on its guidelines.

If the RDC spots an irregularity or receives a complaint, they can trigger an investigation.

Ochieng says very many NGOs just keep identifying themselves to be working in different places yet when you go to the ground, they are nowhere to be seen.

Ochieng says he is immediately embarking on deregistering them because even the bible says one will be known by their fruits, it’s useless if they exist with no fruits for people to enjoy.

Ochieng urges them to work hard and provide results because if they don’t do that, they will be lying to themselves.

Ochieng advises the NGO’s also not to concentrate only in one area of work but rather spread themselves in all parts of Acholi region so that together they can change situations in Acholi land for the better.
