Political Ambulances Must Meet National Health Standards, Says Ministry

The ministry of health has directed the incorporation of political ambulance to ensure they meet the health standards.

Dr Upenytho George Dugumon, the Commissioner health services community health at the ministry of health says very few ambulances bought by politicians meet health standards therefore they should hand the ambulance over to the government for assessment and incorporation.

Dr Upenytho says there is a policy coming out soon on the issue of ambulance to ensure they are not misused the way they are being mishandled.

According to Upenytho, the ambulances are just rescue facilities whose work is to transport patients but no dead bodies are supposed to be carried in the ambulance, the one of politicians can continue carrying dead bodies because they are labeled as transport facilities.

According to Upenytho, standard ambulance accepted by Ministry of Health is well equipped to rescue patients from one point to another and if politicians want theirs to be an ambulance as well, they should cooperate so that the ambulance can meet standards and used correctly.
