
Obol Justine simpleman, the Gulu district Chairman has cautioned residents in Gulu district against misusing the cattle restocking funds that will be given by the Office of the Prime Minister.
Obol says the beneficiaries who will not use the funds given to them for buying cattle will be arrested by authorities.
He reveals that veterinary Officers will help in tagging and identifying the cattle in the district adding that beneficiaries should ask about best practices for keeping the cattle.
Obol says 329 households that have currently been vetted and cleared in Gulu district who will receive the five million shillings cattle restocking funds in their accounts.
The cattle restocking programme is a Government of Uganda initiative aimed at restoring livestock ownership and improving household incomes in Northern Uganda, particularly in the Acholi, Lango, and Teso sub-regions.
The programme seeks to compensate for the massive loss of cattle caused by insurgency, cattle rustling, and displacement during the conflicts of the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s.
