46 beneficiaries already received money for restocking in Gulu City

46 beneficiaries have already received their 5m Uganda shillings money for restocking program in Gulu City.

Cattle restocking is a government of Uganda’s initiative aimed at compensating households in the Acholi, Lango, and Teso sub-regions that lost their livestock to past insurgencies and cattle rustling.

The programme provides verified vulnerable households with UGX 5 million to purchase five cattle (three heifers and two bulls) to restore their livelihoods.

Speaking from his office today, Peter Banya the deputy Resident City Commissioner for Gulu City confirmed that 46 beneficiaries have received their money and that the ones who haven’t received yet will receive by Friday this week before the financial year closes.

Banya also notes that the money has been received by these beneficiaries however they cannot yet access it because the codes are with the chairman LC2s.

Banya says to access the money the beneficiaries have to go for the codes from the Lc2s and the codes will help them access the money.

Banya continues stressing that the money be used to buy cattle and not diverted, he advises that the beneficiaries could visit the cattle markets for better prices and quality animals than buying from within the community where they will not have a variety to choose from.

There are 672 beneficiaries of restocking in Gulu City.
