Six Killed in One Week as Murders Rise in North Kyoga

Police in North Kyoga have expressed concern over the rise in murder cases in the region which has registered loss of six lives in the last one week alone.

Police says that the murder cases which were registered in Kwania, Apac, Oyam, and Lira, arose from assault, domestic misunderstandings, mob justice, and disputes in drinking places.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga region spokesperson says Kwania District recorded three cases while Apac, Oyam and Lira registered one case each.

Okema says in a statement that the tragic incidents reveal a worrying pattern in which minor disagreements, allegations of theft, domestic conflicts, and excessive alcohol consumption are increasingly culminating in the unnecessary loss of human life.

He condemns acts of violence and mob justice in all their forms and reminds members of the public that no individual has the authority to take the law into their own hands.

Okema says that people suspected of committing offences should be reported to the Police and subjected to due legal processes.

He adds that police commands are actively investigating each case to ensure that perpetrators are apprehended and prosecuted.
