Allan Okello, Young Africans Crowned Tanzania NBC Premier League Champions

Allan Okello and Young Africans were yesterday crowned champions of the Tanzania NBC Premier League.

Young Africans sealed the title with a commanding 3-0 victory over JKT Tanzania in their final game of the season, securing a fifth consecutive league crown.

Prince Dube, Maxi Nzengeli and Clement Mzize were all on target as Yanga wrapped up the campaign in style.

The champions finished the season with 75 points, edging fierce rivals Simba SC, who ended on 73 points. Azam FC and Singida Black Stars completed the top four.

The triumph was inspired in part by Allan Okello, who joined the club midway through the season after completing a move from Vipers SC.

The Uganda Cranes attacking midfielder scored 14 league goals, finishing third in the Golden Boot race behind Singida Black Stars forward Mossi Nduwumwe, who netted 17 goals, and Azam’s Feisal Salum, who finished second with 15.

Okello was instrumental throughout the title-winning campaign, including scoring a hat-trick in the 3-0 victory over Tanzania Prisons in Yanga’s penultimate league match, a result that moved the club to the brink of retaining the title.
