Alebtong Parish Chief, Sub-County Chief Arrested Over Theft of 206 Hand Hoes

A parish chief and sub county chief have been arrested in Alebtong district for alleged theft of 206 hand hoes in Adwir sub county stores.

48-year-old Isaac Walter Odongo the Sub-County Chief of Adwir and 40-year-old Lawrence Ongom the parish Chief Olwero in Adwir Sub-County were arrested after the hand hoes went missing from the sub county stores following a break-in on June 29, 2026.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Police spokesperson says that the incident was reported to police at Adwir Sub County on June 30, 2026 by Mathias Lutwama, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner Alebtong.

Okema says that local residents suspected that the Parish chief and the Sub-County and others conspired to break into the Sub-County store to steal the hoes.

Okema says that the hoes were recovered from the parish chief’s house hidden under the bed following a search.
