Amuru Sugar works plantation set on fire

A sugar plantation belonging to Amuru Sugar Works Limited in Akee Village, Lakang Sub-county has been set ablaze by unknown persons.

David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa West Police Spokesperson says the incident happened at around 2:00am on Sunday.

Mudong says that Patrick Omony, the coordinator at Amuru Sugar works LTD reported that the fire had destroyed approximately a hectare of sugar cane plantation.

He adds that police officers went to the scene and found plantation workers had managed to put out the fire preventing it from causing further damage.

Mudong continues that police are investigating to establish those behind the act and their motive.
