Lc1 Voting at Forest cell Laroo Pece division in Gulu City has been delayed past 12:53 pm amidst chaos that erupted due to suspicion of vote rigging.
The chaos started when one of the contestants Kidega Anthony Opoka under independent ticket claimed that he arrived at the polling station he found voting slips being distributed to people in the absence of the candidates and their agents, and that there was only an agent of one candidate.
Kidega and another Jannet Otto, the NRM chairperson for Gulu City representing the persons with disabilities declared that names be read one by one while voting slips and national ID be checked to ensure no rigging takes place.
The names were read but another chaos erupted when others who had acquired voting slips their names were not in the voting book.
Mayor Gulu City Acire Julius Labeja the mayor Gulu City arrived on time and saved the situation where he declared fresh reading of names and that those whose names will not be read will not vote.
Acire also invited more security and electoral commission staff to handle the process and by 1pm the reading was done as preparation for voting kicks off.
There are 7 candidates in the forest cell lc1 race and 408 voters registered to vote.
