Kilak-North Member of Parliament, Honorable Athony Akol has called for a peaceful resolution of the Apaa Land conflict.
Akol made the call yesterday during a Prayer session held in Apaa Township by Gulu Archdiocese led by his grace, Raphael P’ Mony Wokorach .
Hon. Akol noted that people of Apaa had suffered in many different forms adding that Government should find a Peaceful means to end the land conflict in Apaa.
Akol revealed that he recently met with the leaders of Adjumani and shared with them the need for a Peaceful Co-existence between the people of Amuru and Adjumani in Apaa Land.
Amuru district Woman MP, Lucy Akello applauded the Archbishop for coming to Apaa saying that his coming is a sign of Peace and reconciliation.
She urges government to take services like Hospital, schools and other services to the people of Apaa so that they can live a meaningful life.
The Archbishop, his grace Raphael P’Mony Wokorach in his message said the people of Apaa needs Peace adding that government should work with local leaders to make sure that the land issue in Apaa is resolved.
Mzee Oyoo John Bosco, a Community leader in Apaa said the area currently holds over 200,000 people with majority coming from different parts of Uganda.
He says Apaa currently lacks different government services including health Center, Schools, among others.
Apaa a disputed strip of land between East Madi game reserve and Zoka Forest has been at the Center of land Conflicts since 2012.
