Police in Bwera are investigating the suspected murder of a 34-year-old builder whose decomposing body was discovered inside his house in Kyambogho Cell, Mpondwe-Lhubiriha Town Council.
The deceased has been identified as Thomas Mbalabahi. His body was discovered after Geofrey Muhunga, a neighbour, went looking for him at Nyabugando Trading Centre yesterday evening.
Muhunga had planned to hire Mbalabahi to plaster his house today. When he failed to find him at the trading centre, he proceeded to his residence.
Muhunga found the door open and, after calling out several times without receiving a response, entered the house and found Mbalabahi lying lifeless on his bed.
Neighbours and the area chairperson, Jacob Muhindo, were alerted and reported the matter to Bwera Police Station.
The body was taken to Bwera Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem examination established that Mbalabahi had been strangled.
Rwenzori East Police spokesperson, Elly Maate, confirms the incident and said that investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest the suspects.
Police have appealed to anyone with information that could help establish the circumstances surrounding Mbalabahi’s death to come forward and assist with the investigations.
