OPM Donates 750 Iron Sheets to Support Kitgum Schools and Chapel

Kitgum District has received a total of 750 iron sheets from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) to support the re-roofing of two primary schools and the expansion of a local chapel.

The consignment, delivered today, comprises 200 iron sheets for Putuke Primary School in Kitgum Matidi Sub-county, 200 for Lukwo Primary School in Labongo Amida Sub-county, and 350 for St. Michael’s Chapel in Pachua Pakuba, Mucwini West Sub-county.

The donation follows an appeal by the community through Lillian Aber, the Minister of State for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees.

Geoffrey Oguti, the Kitgum Assistant Resident District Commissioner welcomes the support, noting that the schools had structures with failing roofs (dilapidated) and that the chapel required expansion.

Allan Courage Oola, the Kitgum District Information Officer says the delivery is a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to supporting the people of Kitgum.

He further urges the community to act swiftly, citing the anticipated El Niño rains.
