Janet Phoebe Ayo, Gulu district speaker, has asked the office of the Resident District Commissioner and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to thoroughly investigate the theft of antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) from Awach Health centre IV.

The speaker who was chairing an emergency full council meeting yesterday said that she had received reports that there were people interfering with the investigations of the suspects behind the incident.

She says it’s important that the culprits are arrested and prosecuted.

The number of drugs stolen during the incident, which happened last week, is not yet known.

Florence Anna Alanyo, the Assistant RDC Gulu in response said the matter had been discussed during a recent security meeting and that investigations are ongoing.

She assures the council that the culprits would be brought to book.
