A 25-year old man has sustained serious burn wounds after he reportedly jumped into a burning grass thatched hut in Odibuwiye village, Lalogi Sub County in Omoro district.
Olanya Ogwal was reportedly drunk with Marijuana, an illegal drug, when he set his grass thatched hut on fire before jumping in.
Jasper Anyoro, the L.C 1 Chairperson of Odibuwiye village says the incident happened at 6:00pm on Saturday.
Anyoro says Olanya who had recently separated with his wife after rejecting her in front of his clan leaders, wanted a reconciliation with his ex-wife.
He reportedly went to where his ex-wife was living in the neighborhood and asked that they reconcile but she refused.
This reportedly angered him and he set the house on fire before dragging in his ex-wife and their young child.
Anyoro says that the family was however rescued by neighbors who heard an alarm but Olanya jumped back into the fire.
The chairperson says Olanya was rushed to Lalogi Health Center IV where he is being treated for serious burn wounds on the buttocks, thighs and arms.
Anyoro says the matter was reported to police who are ready to prosecute Olanya as soon as he recovers.
