
Members of Parliament from Acholi sub-region are hopeful that the new set of leaders elected in the 12th Parliament will bring in new energy for unity.
Okot Peter of Tochi County who was re-elected for the third time says he is hopeful that the newly elected Members of Parliament will foster unity among the Acholi Parliamentary Group.
Okot adds that there was division among members of Acholi Parliamentary Group in the 11th Parliament whose term expires in May this year.
He adds that they hope senior Members of Parliament like Hilary Onek, Norbert Mao and others will help to foster unity among members of Acholi Parliamentary Group.
Gilbert Olanya who was also re-elected for the third term as MP for Kilak South in Amuru District says the people of Acholi Sub Region have elected good Members of Parliament whom they hope to work together with for the betterment of Acholi community.
Olanya says the fact that the majority of the people in Acholi Sub Region voted for President Yoweri Museveni has given MPs bargaining power to demand that Government fulfils its pledge of cattle compensation for each household in Acholi sub-region.
Okello Geoffrey, the MP for Nwoya East calls for unity among the newly elected Members of Parliament to enable them serve the people.
