Amuru district gets modern cold chain storage Facilities

The construction of a modern large scale cold chain storage facilities is almost complete in Amuru district.

Micheal Lakony, the Amuru district Chairman says the construction of the cold chain storage facilities will address the critical shortage of veterinary medicine and improve on livestock health in the district.

He adds that a team from Ministry of Agriculture Animal Husbandry and Fisheries (MAAIF) will inspect the facility before official handover.

Lakony adds that the district will fence the facility and install CCTV cameras in order to enhance security of the facility.

He adds that they have already trained the local government Technocrats on how to use some of the modern technology at the facility. 

The facility was constructed with support from government at a cost of over 500 million shillings and it is expected to keep critical livestock vaccines and other medicines.

Other districts in Northern Uganda that have benefited from a similar facility include; Gulu, Nwoya and Kitgum.
