Hundreds of pupils in Amuru district have preferred to stay at home to catch white ants instead of returning to school.
This comes after schools across the country opened for first term on Monday.
Geoffrey Osborn Oceng, the Amuru Resident District Commissioner who visited a number of schools yesterday says the turn up of pupils was disappointing.
Oceng says that Olwal Mucaja primary school registered only three learners out of an enrolment of 1,115.
He says that at Riek ki ceke primary only 27 out of 1,121 reported, at Otwee primary school only 101 pupils out of 1, 473 reported while at Labongo gali primary school only 10 out of 1, 344 pupils reported.
Oceng was speaking at a stakeholder engagement organized by Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited, UEDCL at Gulu district council hall yesterday.
He advises parents in Acholi sub region to consider the education of their children seriously if they are to be part of the employable market in the country.
