
Peter Banya, the Deputy Resident City Commissioner for Pece-Laroo Division, Gulu City has apologized to the public for the recent security incident in which street gangs commonly known as “Aguu” attacked a group of chapati sellers along Cemetery Road in Gulu City.
Banya says the Saturday incident is regrettable because there were some gaps from Security officials in Gulu City.
Banya however adds that they have since intensified operations against these street gangs and arrested several suspects.
He also urges the chapati makers along Cemetery Road to resume business because the situation is calm and nothing will happen to them again.
Over the weekend, Ayella Bismarck, a street gang member was killed by a chapati maker along Cemetery Road in Gulu City after they failed to pay the money for chapati in full.
In revenge, the street gangs organized themselves and attacked chapati makers along Cemetery Roads and set several kiosks ablaze.
David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa West Police Spokesperson says they have arrested over 90 suspected criminals from different parts of Gulu City.
Many of these suspects were found with dangerous materials like pangas, knives, opium, etc.
