Patients and residents across the Teso Sub-region are benefiting from increased police vigilance as the East Kyoga Regional Police have detained over 56 suspects linked to various alleged crimes across several districts.
The crackdown took place in Soroti district, Soroti City, Amuria, Kapelebyong, Katakwi, Kalaki, and Kaberemaido districts, following an operational order from the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Robert Coxson Obic, the Deputy Regional Police Commander says the directive aimed to maintain order and peace during the ongoing Easter celebrations.
One of the victims, a mobile money agent named Patricia Kukunda, was tragically robbed and shot dead by assailants.
Obic further notes that security in the region has been significantly tightened, particularly around church services held at night.
The Deputy RPC urges residents to observe the festivities with peace and forgiveness.
