All government services will be accessed digitally effective June 2026 in Northern Uganda from the service Uganda centre that was launched in Gulu City on Friday.
Some Government services like senior citizens grants, rural health services, land registration, school capitation grants among others that were never accessed digitally will now be accessed digitally among other government services that were already digitalised.
This will be made possible through the service Uganda centres that are currently being constructed and expected to be done by May.
According to the Activity manager for NITA Uganda, Madeleine Mugisa, the service centre will have about 40 service counters where the public will be issued with ticket numbers to access several government services like passports, public service services among others by just providing their NIN number.
Mugisa says NITA Uganda will give the former Posta Uganda office a face lift, while Posta Uganda will take responsibility of power, water and ensure the place is clean and well maintained.
The Ministry of public service will ensure that the place has been made available and operational while the Ministry of works and ICT will ensure work is being done according to government needs.
Sarah Nalutu, a representative from Ministry of public service says the service centre will reduce the cost and time people spend while receiving government services and promises the best service to Ugandans.
The service centre that will serve the entire northern Uganda has cost the government a total of four billion shillings.
