Gulu City Service Commission Hands Over Office After End of Four-Year Term

Gulu City Service Commission chaired by Michael Ochora has handed over office to the City Town Clerk after the end of their four-year term in office.

The handover ceremony was held at the former Laroo division offices.

Ochora says the commission handled 441 cases of various forms of recruitment through re- designation of offices, appointment on probation, appointment on promotion and transfer of services from relevant local governments.

He says the commission introduced a digital application system aimed at eliminating delays and claims of missing documents from applicants.

Ochora adds that 1,187 applicants expressed interest in 93 positions advertised last year by Gulu city service commission.

The positions include Principal environment officer, principal Human resource officer, Senior internal auditor, senior communication office and customer care officer among others.

Alfred Okwonga, the City Mayor says the council recommended in December for the renewal of term of service of the commission to the Ministry of Public service since they had no complaints of corruption against them.

Regina Akello, the deputy town clerk who received the office from the commission says that the city is currently operating at a staffing level of below 35 percent.
