Gulu District Councillor Samuel Baker Mwaka Switches Allegiance to NRM

Samuel Baker Mwaka, the councillor five Patiko Sub County in Gulu district has finally changed sitting position to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) that enjoys majority in Gulu district council.

Janet Pheobe Ayo, the district speaker while chairing an emergency full council meeting today, said that she recently received a letter from Mwaka requesting to change his sitting position from the right where the opposition sits in the council to the left where the NRM sits.

Mwaka joined the Gulu district council in 2021 as an independent candidate, leaning towards the opposition.

He, however, crossed to the NRM a few months ago and was elected flag bearer for councillor five Patiko Sub county.

The speaker Ayo granted his request and he effectively moved to the NRM side, where he was joyfully received.

Gulu district council, which has 27 councillors, is now left with just two opposition councillors.
