Norbert Mao, the Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs has expressed his support for Alfred Okwonga, the incumbent Gulu City Mayor.
Mao says the Gulu City Mayoral race needs someone with experience and therefore as such, he will vote for Alfred Okwonga.
Mao who is the MP Elect for Pece-Laroo division also expresses support for all the DP Candidates in East and West Acholi for LC V Chairperson positions, Division Mayors and their Councilors.
Okwonga says he intends to continue with some of the development projects he started in his first term as the City Mayor.
Okwonga adds that his main focus in the coming term is to create opportunities that can improve on the living standards of the people.
Okwonga who is NRM Flag bearer is facing tough competition from Labeja Julius also known Gunya.
The Gulu City Mayoral race has attracted five Candidates.
Political analysts say Mao’s endorsement of Okwonga is a big political statement considering his influence in Acholi Politics.
