Kitgum Cattle Herder Found Dead with Injuries

A 56-year-old cattle herder, Francisco Oboyi has been found dead with injuries on his knee and head in Tumangur village, Labongo Akwang Sub-county, Kitgum district.

According to Polycarp Oling, the Tumangur village chairperson, Oboyi had gone to herd his cattle on Monday afternoon but failed to return home.

He says this prompted his wife, Alice Alanyo, to inform his in-laws about his disappearance.

A search party was organized, and his lifeless body was discovered by his brother, John Okot, just 50 meters from the kraal.

Peter Oyesigye, the Kitgum District Police Commander says a case of murder has been registered at Kitgum Central Police Station.

The body has been taken to Kitgum General Hospital pending postmortem before it is handed over to the family members for burial.

He says the motive behind the killing is not yet clear, but police are investigating the possibility of land-related violence.
