Kitgum Mayor Aspirant Vows to Safeguard Local Enterprises and Welcome Investors

Komakech John Ogwok, a candidate contesting for the position of Mayor Kitgum Municipality, has committed to prioritizing the protection of local businesses and creating a welcoming environment for investors.

During a press conference at Christ the King Social Centre, Ogwok expressed his concern over recent break-ins at several shops, emphasizing that ensuring the safety and security of businesses would be his top priority.

Ogwok who previously served as Chairperson of Pece Division, Chairperson of Kitgum District, and Chairperson of Lamwo District stresses the importance of leaders collaborating closely with the business community to establish reasonable taxes and attract investors.

He points out that often, leaders neglect the needs of businesses, causing them to feel isolated and discouraging potential investors from coming to Kitgum.

To combat these challenges, Ogwok pledges to transform Kitgum Municipality into a thriving business hub that could rival Gulu City.

He also promises to improve garbage management to safeguard the environment. His vision includes rebranding Kitgum as a vibrant business center within the Acholi sub-region.

Ogwok, running under the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), faces significant competition from several candidates, including incumbent Richard Okwera Ojara (independent), Raymond Ocan (NRM), Opika Opoka Peter (DP), Marino Lol Ongee (independent), Komakech Geoffrey (independent), and Santo Morris Oyo, the current Pager Division chairperson (FDC).
